Of the many cleaning services, Four Star General Cleaning offers, one such specialty service is computer cleaning. It’s very important to make sure both the inside and outside of your computer is clean. Having a clean computer isn’t only important for aesthetic reasons, but by not cleaning a computer, dirt can seep into the computer and ruin the functioning of such an important piece of electrical equipment.
Out of all the things to clean, not cleaning a computer correctly can damage the computer. If one doesn’t know how to clean a computer, it’s advisable to hire experts you are able to clean a computer, since a computer can get damaged if not cleaned properly.
In order to make sure that a computer is correctly cleaned there are a few things one should know:
1) Never spray any liquid onto any part of the computer. If a spray is needed to clean the computer then spray the liquid onto a cloth and use the cloth to clean the parts of the computer.
2) Before cleaning any part of the computer make sure that the machine is turned off (the last thing you want to do is have work be lost as a result of cleaning).
3) When cleaning the back of the computer make sure to not disconnect any of the plugs and make sure to not switch any of the computer controls.
4) Only vacuum the exterior of the computer in order to get rid of the dirt and dust. Do not use a vacuum when cleaning the interior of the computer; since doing so creates a lot of static electricity that can damage the inside of the computer. If it’s necessary to vacuum inside a computer, use a portable battery powered vacuum or compressed air to clean the insides of the computer.
5) It’s best to use water or diluted cleaning supplies when cleaning your computer since some cleaning solutions can damage your computer screen.
6) When cleaning the computer fans (especially smaller fans), we recommend to either hold the fan or put something in between the blades of the fan to prevent the fan blades from moving. Also, don't spray compressed air into the fan and don’t clean the fan with a vacuum since this may cause damage or create electrical energy which is bad for the computer.
It’s best not to eat, drink and smoke near the computer. This is recommended because liquid and food can get caught into the computer and may cause some damage to the machine.
A cloth is probably the best cleaning instrument to use when cleaning as computer, but this is specifically when cleaning the computer screen and exterior parts of the computer (like a mouse). One should not use a cloth when cleaning the circuits and inside of the computer (like RAM for instance) since doing so can cause an electrical voltage than can damage the computer.
When wetting the cloth, it’s best to use water or rubbing alcohol since other cleaning chemical are bad for the computer.
Using a portable vacuum is one of the best ways to remove all the dirt and dust of the computer. Not getting rid of the dirt, dust and other such particles can cause the circuits of the computer to decay over time and they can also stop the airflow needed for the computer to work. Only use a portable vacuum to clean the outsides of the computer, not a plug-in vacuum.
Cotton and foam swabs are great to use (especially when used with water) to clean the small holes and other hard to clean areas of the keyboard, mouse and other small hard to clean areas of the computer.
